The first-generation Jawbone has redefined the Bluetooth headset market with Noise Shield, a noise canceling technology developed by DARPA (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) for military use. Noise Shield was created to make battlefield communication clearer and less affected by ambient noise. The result is a technology that practically eliminates background noise, be it music, wind, the hum of an engine or the buzz of a lawnmower.
Built with a combination of metal and plastic, the Jawbone can be worn on either ear, and features several ear buds and earloops for ears of different shapes and sizes. The Jawbone also features particularly long battery life, up to 9 hours per charge.
