In
early 2005, Sprint PCS Business began offering
the Audiovox PPC-6601,
an innovative Pocket PC Phone with a slide-to-hide
keyboard design. Shortly thereafter,
a sibling of the PPC-6601 was made available to non-business
Sprint PCS customers, the Audiovox
PPC-6600.
Practically
identical to its Business-class counterpart,
the PPC-6600 featured a 400MHz Intel Processor,
128MB of RAM, a 64MB Flash ROM, onboard Bluetooth,
and an SDIO slot for use with Secure Digital
flash memory cards as well as SDIO peripherals. Unlike
the PPC-6601, however, the PPC-6600 had an onboard
digital camera.
The PPC-6600 was discontinued when Sprint launched their branded version of the HTC Apache, the PPC-6700, in late 2005.
