A "soft" reset
clears all open programs and "reboots"
the Cingular 8125 Pocket PC Phone. When the handheld powers back
up, you'll start with all active programs closed
and the device ready to use. This procedure is
intended to reset a Pocket PC Phone if it is malfunctioning
or has become bogged down. This reset is also
sometimes necessary after software is installed.
A
soft reset is the Cingular 8125 is equivalent to restarting
your Desktop or Laptop.
The
Cingular 8125 can be soft reset by pressing the
recessed button on the left side of the unit directly below the Infrared port.

A "hard" reset wipes the Cingular 8125's memory and returns
it to factory specs. In effect,
the device will be just as it was when you
purchased it. All
data entered, preferences set or software installed (other than ROM updates)
after purchase will be lost after
a hard reset and will have to be transferred or
reinstalled via ActiveSync.
The
Cingular 8125 can be hard reset by performing
one the following procedures:
Software Hard Reset
From the Today Screen, tap Start > Settings > System (tab) > Clear Storage:

With the Clear Storage utility, you can initiate a hard reset right from the system software. Just follow the onscreen instructions.
Hardware Hard Reset
If you can't access the Cingular 8125's software or just want to perform a hard reset without having to use software, a hard reset can also be performed by pressing a series of hardware buttons. Simply press and hold the Comm Manager and Voice Command buttons, then press and release the reset button. Do not release the Comm Manager or Voice Command buttons until the reset button has been released.
