All current Pocket PCs ship with some version of Windows
Media Player Mobile installed. With Windows Media Player, your Pocket PC
can play MP3, Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Video (WMV) files right out of the box.

In order for your music and video files to play in
Windows Media Player Mobile - or any other audio or video
program - it is best that they are stored in the My Documents Directory of your Pocket PC's storage. You can dump the files in the main My Documents folder or create new subfolders for music and video (shown below).

It is not necessary for audio or video files be stored in the My Documents folder with Windows Media Player Mobile 10. Files stored anywhere in internal memory or on a flash memory card must simply be added to the Library. All files will be scanned and media files will be added to the Library listings by catetory.

If you have a flash memory card, such as a CompactFlash
or Secure Digital card, you can also store music and
video files there; in fact, because memory cards have such large capacities, this is actually preferable to storing files in internal memory.
To create a My Documents folder on a flash memory card, open File Explorer, and go to your
Storage Card folder.

Once you're in the Storage Card folder,
hold your stylus down for two seconds and select "New
Folder" from the menu. Name the new folder My Documents. Now
you have a documents folder on your
storage card and can store music and video files there. Not only will they show up in WM Player, but they'll be much easier to track.

You can also create subfolders to help keep your files
straight. Create a Music folder for your
MP3 and WMA files and a Video folder for
your Windows Video Files.
