A SOFT RESET clears all open programs and reboots
the Samsung Epix SGH-i907 Windows Mobile Phone. When the handheld powers back
up, you'll start with all active programs closed
and the device ready to use. This procedure is
intended to reset a smartphone if it is malfunctioning
or has become bogged down. This reset is also
sometimes necessary after software is installed.
The
Epix can be soft reset simply by removing the battery for a few seconds, reinstalling it and powering the smartphone back on.
A HARD RESET wipes the Epix's memory and returns
it to factory specs. In effect,
the device will be just as it was when you
purchased it. All
data entered, preferences set or software installed (other than ROM updates)
after purchase will be lost after
a hard reset and will have to be transferred or
reinstalled via ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.
The
Samsung Epix can be hard reset by performing
one of the following procedures:
Hardware Hard Reset
First, power off the Epix by pressing and holding the power button until the screen goes dark.
While pressing and holding the "H" key on the smartphone's keyboard, press the power button again to power the Epix back on.
Continue to hold the "H" key until you see a message appear on the screen:
[Format Mode]
Format: Press OK
Skip: Other keys |

To perform the hard reset, press the OK button. Wait for the device to reboot.
Software Hard Reset
The Samsung Epix includes a software utility used to hard reset the phone. However, this utility requires a password.
Reset Tip
If you ever sell or give away your device, be sure to perform a hard reset to clear the smartphone of your personal data.
