Your Pocket PC's internal memory is limited and cannot be easily upgraded. Installing software to Secure Digital (SD) or CompactFlash (CF) flash memory cards allows you limitless expansion without taking up your Pocket PC's internal storage.
Installing software to your Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC's SD or CF card is easy, though the process has changed a bit from earlier versions of the Windows Mobile OS. Rather than designating that you would like the software installed to a flash memory card in ActiveSync on the PC, Windows Mobile 5 allows you to choose the installation destination on the Pocket PC itself.
First, download the desired Pocket PC software installation file to your Windows PC and establish a link with
your Pocket PC via ActiveSync. Allow the synchronization process to complete, then run the installation program. The ActiveSync Add/Remove Programs screen will appear and install the program to your Pocket PC.
When the installation files have been transferred to your Pocket PC, you will see the a pop-up on the Pocket PC screen to confirm the installation. Following this, the following screen will appear:

This screen allows you to choose the application's installation destination; in this example, we've chosen to install the application "Fizz Traveler" to an SD card. When you've made your selection, tap "Install" at the bottom of the screen. The installation process will complete as you indicated.

You're done!
Obviously, when a program is installed to flash memory card, removing the card will make the program inaccessible.
