Installing the latest version of Minimo on your Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone requires a handheld running Windows Mobile 5. Earlier versions of the OS are not compatible. Minimo is also not compatible with Windows Mobile Smartphones like the Motorola Q or Samsung Blackjack. If you're unsure if you have a Pocket PC or Windows Mobile Smartphone, click here.
Minimo is distributed in two ways, as a PC installer (which must be run and installed
from your Windows PC, an .EXE file), and as a self-installer (which must be transferred
to your Pocket PC before it can be installed, a .CAB file). Most users will likely find the PC installer easier to use.
For installation instructions, select which type of
file you have to install:

In Windows Vista, software is installed to your Pocket PC through
Windows Mobile Device Center, the synchronization utility installed on your Windows Vista PC. Windows Mobile Device Center is a lot like ActiveSync, the synchronization utility used with pervious versions of Windows.
Step 1: Download Minimo
Using your computer, download the
PC installer for Minimo. We recommend downloading to your Windows Desktop so you can easily find the file later:

Step 2: Run the Software Installation File
Run the installation file on your Vista PC by double-clicking
it on the Windows Desktop (or wherever the file is stored). This should be done while your Pocket PC is
synced with Windows Mobile Device Center:

The Minimo installation program will install files to your
computer's hard drive, then establish a link with
your Pocket PC through Windows Mobile Device Center, copying the needed files to your handheld's onboard memory:

You'll see a pop-up on the Pocket PC's screen to confirm the installation. Tap Yes. If you have a flash memory card installed, a second screen will also appear allowing you to choose the installation destination, internal memory or flash card. Make your choice and tap Install. Allow the process to complete:

Minimo is now installed. A soft reset may be
required for some software installations. To run the program, locate it in your Programs menu by tapping Start > Programs:

If you would prefer to install Minimo from the Pocket PC itself, you must first move
the .CAB installation file to
the Pocket PC. To begin, download the Minimo .CAB file.
Step 1: Locate and Copy the .CAB Installation File
First, you must move
the .CAB Windows Mobile installation file to
your Pocket PC. Sync the Pocket PC with Windows Vista. After synchronization is complete, select
the Browse the contents of this device feature from Windows Mobile Device Center's
File Management menu:

This feature allows you to browse the contents
your Pocket PC's internal storage like you would browse your
computer's hard drive(s). Once the window is open, go to your Windows Desktop
(or wherever the Minimo .CAB file is stored). Right-click it. From the drop-down menu, select Copy. Return
to the explorer window showing the content of your Pocket PC's storage,
right-click somewhere in the window, and select Paste:

The Minimo .CAB file installer will be copied to the Pocket PC. Allow this process to complete. Remove
the Pocket PC from its cradle or disconnect its sync cable. On your Pocket PC, run File
Explorer in the Program folder on the Start
Menu.

Find the file you moved in File Explorer. When you
find it, double-tap it. It will install itself on
your Pocket PC and add its icon to the Start Menu, or
the Programs folder.

You're done. Minimo will now appear in the Programs folder:

Once the software has been installed, feel free to delete the .CAB file from your Pocket PC's memory if you wish.
