Apple 5G iPod
(White, Front & Side Views)
Discontinued: Apple's 5th Generation iPod continued the evolution of the iPod line with a thinner form factor, 30GB and 80GB models and, last but not least, out-of-the-box video capabilities.
The 5G iPod was both thinner and lighter than its predecessors and featured a 2.5" QVGA display for video playback. In addition to music, users, for the first time, were able to download music videos, TV shows and select movies from the iTunes music store.
An updated version of the 5G iPod, sometimes called the 5.5G iPod, was released in September 2006, and featured longer battery life, a clearer, brighter display, redesigned Apple ear buds, and various software tweaks. In September 2007, Apple replaced the 5G iPod with the iPod Classic, which comes in both 80GB and 160GB capacities.
