Apple
iPod mini (Silver)
Apple iPod mini Family
Introduced in February 2004, the iPod mini was designed to be a smaller version of the standard drive-based
iPod. The mini weighed only 3.6 ounces, with a
face about the size of a credit card. Formed
by a seamless shell of anodized aluminum, the
iPod mini was more rugged and scratch-resistant
than the standard iPod - and even the iPods that were to follow. Designed for active
music lovers, the mini stored 1000 or 1500 songs, had almost
a half hour of skip protection and an internal
battery that offered up to 8 hours of audio playback
per charge.
The iPod mini introduced
the Click Wheel, which has since been incorporated
into Apple's 4th Gen iPod. The
Click Wheel marries the touch interface of the
Scroll Wheel and the iPod operation buttons;
now both scrolling and playback functions are
performed with the Click Wheel, making the mini
easy to use.
In February
2005, the iPod mini was made available in an additional 6GB capacity and received a battery upgrade good
for up to 18 hours of use per charge. Apple discontinued the iPod mini in September 2005 after introducing the iPod nano. The iPod mini continues to be popular even after is discontinuation. For the best deals, check eBay.com.
