Building on their existing U10 player, iRiver has introduced another touch-driven media player called the iRiver CLIX. The CLIX features 2GB or 4GB of internal flash memory and compatability with audio, video, text and still image files.
Like its U10 sibling, the iRiver CLIX features a 2.2-inch display sourrounded by a touch-senseative frame for player control. Most commands are entered by touching one of the four sides of the screen, functionality changing based on what is displayed on the screen at any given time.
The CLIX is also compatible with an add-on cradle which transforms the player into a truly multifunction unit. The cradle features a line-in port for on-the-fly audio encoding, and embedded speakers allow you to listen to music or video audio without the need for headphones. The cradle also has a "snooze" button, which, along with the unit's software clock, allows the CLIX to be used as an alarm clock. As if that weren't enough, the cradle also features a wireless remote. Unfortunately, the cradle is often an optional accessory.
