T-Mobile MDA Removed, Report Points to HTC Atlas Replacement

HTC Atlas / T-Mobile Wing

April 10, 2007 - With the T-Mobile MDA Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Phone being removed from the T-Mobile web site, the online consensus seems to be that the MDA is gone for good.  A report at MyMobile911.com supports this theory, and also indicates that T-Mobile has a replacement up its sleeve: the HTC Atlas.

Like the MDA, the HTC Atlas is a slide-to-hide factor Windows Mobile PDA Phone with a QWERTY keyboard and touch screen. Unlike the MDA, the Atlas will run Windows Mobile 6 and have a microSD flash memory card slot.  The HTC Atlas also features onboard Bluetooth, but there's no word on integrated Wi-Fi.

The HTC Atlas is powered by a TI OMAP850 ARM-based processor.

T-Mobile will reportedly sell the HTC Atlas as the T-Mobile Wing sometime in Summer 2007, possibly as late as August. T-Mobile hasn't announced its pricing scheme for the device, but we assume the Wing will cost about as much as the MDA in the United States.

Have questions or information regarding the HTC Atlas / T-Mobile Wing?  Let us know.
