HTC Vogue (Touch) Smartphone Coming to Sprint

HTC Vogue (Touch)

August 17, 2007 - At its annual technology summit on Thursday, Sprint made the surprise announcement that it will soon begin offering one of the most eagerly anticipated Windows Mobile smartphones of 2007, the HTC Vogue. The Vogue is the CDMA version of the HTC Touch, which was announced with some fanfare in June 2007.  The unit will be sold under the Sprint brand as the Sprint Touch.

The CDMA version (HTC Vogue) boasts several improved features not found on the GSM version (HTC Touch) including a 400MHz mobile processor, upgradable EV-DO Rev. A high-speed wireless data, and a built-in GPS receiver to be used with TeleNav's navigation service.

The adoption of the HTC Vogue is an obvious attempt by Sprint to counter Apple's iPhone, which is available exclusively from AT&T Mobile. The Touch and Vogue employ a touch-based graphical interface called TouchFLO, which was developed by HTC for use on Windows Mobile touchscreen devices.  TouchFLO has been compared, though admittedly loosely, to the iPhone's sweeping and pinching touch interface.

We have no data on pricing or availability as of this writing.  As more information becomes available, it will be posted in the Pocket PC Central News Center.  Have questions, comments or information regarding the upcoming Sprint Touch?  E-mail us.
