A follow up to the highly successful i700, Samsung's i730 Pocket PC Phone was built around the same slide-and-hide design of the larger (and now also retired) Audiovox VX6600 Pocket PC Phone. Along with the VX6600, the Samsung i730 marked the beginning of a new trend in Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phones that lead to their increased popularity: smaller form factors and slide-to-hide keyboards.
The
i730 is powered by a faster processor than the i700, has more onboard memory and runs the Windows Mobile 5 OS. The i730's integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth offers out-of-the-box wireless connectivity and the onboard Secure Digital
slot provides for storing up to 2GB of image, video and music files on SD
Flash Memory Cards.
Although the Samsung i730 has been discontinued, it can still be purchased from select retailers, and of course on eBay. Verizon Wireless currently offers the Treo 700wx and XV6700 Windows Mobile PDA Phones (with touchscreens) and the Motorola Q Windows Mobile Smartphone (without touchscreen).
