Motorola Droid Android 2.0 Smartphone

UPDATE August 2010: The Motorola Droid 2 Android Smartphone is now available for purchase.

The Motorola Droid was, perhaps, the first Android-powered smartphone to put Google's mobile operating system in the mainstream.  And the phone continues to enjoy success to this day.

The Droid slider originally shipped with Android OS 2.0, but is shipping with v2.1.  A tad thicker than the iPhone 3GS, features include a TI OMAP3 ARM Cortex A8 processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA 16:9 capacitive touchscreen display, a slide-to-hide QWERTY keyboard, a low-light 5MP camera, and 6+ hour battery life.  There are also hundreds of Android apps for the Motorola Droid.

The Verizon Wireless direct price of the Motorola Droid is $149 with a two-year service agreement, but you will find much better deals from the third-party retailers below.

Looking for a Motorola Droid without a hardware keyboard?  Check out the Motorola Droid X.
