The BlackBerry Pearl 2, or 8130, builds on the success of RIM's original Pearl, but with a few new features onboard. The Pearl 2 for Sprint, for example, will feature an onboard GPS receiver and EV-DO mobile broadband support. Unfortunately, the 8130 will not feature onboard Wi-Fi. The design has remained largely unchanged.
The Pearl 2 will be sold by both Verizon Wireless and Sprint. A complete picture of the 8130's specs isn't yet available, but it will be powered by a Qualcomm ARM-based processor and feature a microSD flash card reader for additional storage including SDHC compatibility. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP Stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Like its predecessor, the Pearl 2 won't have a true QWERTY keyboard, but the same ol' SureType keyboard/keypad hybrid.
The Sprint and Verizon launches of the Pearl 2 8130 are expected sometime in November 2007. Check back here for more information as it becomes available. Have questions or information regarding the Pearl 2? E-mail us.
