HP iPAQ 510 Smartphone
HP's first non-touchscreen Windows Mobile Smartphone, the iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger, is now available from several online retailers, though the device hasn't been picked up by any wireless carriers. Although HP has released several touchscreen Pocket PC Phones, including the current iPAQ hw6925, the iPAQ 510 runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard, the new name given to the non-touchscreen Smartphone Edition of Windows Mobile.
At 0.7-inches thick, the iPAQ 510 isn't in direct competition with devices like the T-Mobile Dash or Motorola Q, but it isn't really designed to be. The iPAQ 510 lacks a QWERTY keyboard and is intended for users who are looking for a more traditional phone experience.
One of HP's selling points for the iPAQ 510 is its Voice Commander software which not only allows you to control the handset with your voice, but also allows e-mail and other text to be read to you via text-to-speech technology. The 510 also has onboard VoIP technology.
The iPAQ 510 Smartphone is sold unlocked and is compatible with AT&T (Cingular), T-Mobile and other GSM carriers.
