After months of Sprint exclusivity, the Palm Centro has crossed the GSM divide and is now available to AT&T Mobility customers. The GSM version of the Centro is more or less identical to its CDMA sibling (at least in terms of features), though it does have slower connectivity with EDGE compatibility, not UMTS or HSDPA.
The Centro is an entry-level smartphone running the long-in-the-tooth 'Garnet' Palm OS. Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, 64MB of available flash memory storage, a 320x320 QVGA display, a 1.3MP digital camera, Bluetooth 1.2, a removable Li-Ion battery and a microSD expansion slot for additional flash memory (SDHC supported). The Centro does not include Wi-Fi.
In the United States, the Palm Centro is available to AT&T Mobility (and Sprint Wireless) customers for $100 with a two-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate.
