After more than a year of delays, AT&T appears to be gearing up to release the UTStarcom SMT5700, a.k.a. "Bulldog," Windows Mobile Smartphone.
Built around the form-factor made popular by the original Motorola Q, the UTStarcom SMT5700 is a budget handheld with a landscape display and QWERTY keyboard. The SMT5700 was originally slated to run the Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphone OS, but will likely debut running Windows Mobile 6 Standard. The handheld is also compatible with GSM/EDGE wireless networks, not UMTS or HSDPA.
Other features include a 2MP digital camera, Bluetooth wireless and a microSD slot. There's no indication that the handset has built-in Wi-Fi.
The UTStarcom SMT5700 is set for release by AT&T Mobility sometime in mid-2008, possibly as early as May or June. Additional product information will be posted here as it becomes available. Have questions or information regarding the SMT5700? E-mail us.
