We're not sure the word smartphone adequately describes the upcoming Toshiba Satellite G900 Windows Mobile PDA Phone; perhaps superphone is more apt. The G900 (also referred to as the RG4-E02) is a handheld of many firsts and, if released in the United States, will be the most advanced handheld on the market.
The Toshiba G900 is built around a slide-to-hide keyboard, which is fairly standard for Windows Mobile Smartphones with touchscreens, but the real magic of the device is in its other features. The G900 supports tri-band HSDPA, a high-speed wireless data standard. The G900 boasts a VGA display, the first Windows Mobile PDA Phone to do so. The handheld features two cameras, a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video calls. The G900 also features biometric security, built-in 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and flash memory card expansion.
The Toshiba G900 received FCC approval in May 2007, which doesn't necessarily mean that the device will be sold in the U.S., but it certainly clears the way. As more information becomes available, it will be posted here. Have questions or information regarding the Toshiba G900? E-mail us.
